The Girl with a Pearl Earring

At the moment at art we are busy doing shading. The pictures we have been doing are upside down in a envelope. What we do is pull out the picture bit by bit and shade what we see. We don't know what we are drawing and are not aloud to look the picture until its done. The picture I got is called The Girl with a Pearl Earring, by Johannes Vermeer.

I finished it today, here is the comparison, leave a comment to tell me what you think.

Dance Social and other stuff

WOW!!!!! Life has been so busy here! First of all, Josh Tanya and I have been crazy busy with the car rally we are planning. But it has been loads of fun too!!!!
Secondly Aunty Deborah and Uncle Dieter stayed with us on Friday night and spent Saturday here, it was so great to see them again, I will miss them when they leave again.......
And last of all, last night we went to a ballroom dance social!!! It was above Harry Goemans centre at JION. It was really fun!!!! Ester, Carley and I stuck together the whole time and had so much fun chatting and laughing, and of course dancing when somebody asked us to!!! It was a really fun evening, and now I wish I had a dancing partner to carry on with again!!! Ester, Carley and I said we need to find some triplets to dance with so we will all be matching, so if anybody knows any triplets, let us know!

Baby Shower

Yesterday was Aunty Tammy's baby shower!!!!!! It's soooo exciting that next month I will have a new baby cousin!!!!

I made some cupcakes, I know the icing isn't very good, but I have never done that kind before!!! It's nothing compared to what I can do when I have Tessa's guidance and tools with me!!!

Mom's gift to her was a nappy cake. She made it all out of nappies and decorated it with things for the little baby boy! You might wonder why there is a photo on the cake? It's because when Aunty Tammy opened the presents, she had to guess who it was from, by looking at their baby photo!! Some she got straight away, but others took ages!!!!
I decided to make a scrapbook of his first year as my gift, and I will be sure to blog about it!!!!

We played a game at the baby shower too, we each got three pegs (except Aunty Tammy). Every time somebody says baby (Aunty Tammy could say it), the person who hears them say it, gets to take one of their pegs and the person with the most pegs at the end got a prize!!!

Tanya brought baby Isabella with her, and it was so hot that I dipped her feet in the pool, she liked it!!!

I cant wait to meet little "Maximus" !!!!! I'm sure everyone is excited about this new addition to the family!!!

low GI muesli bars

I know I haven't blogged in ages, but I plan to more frequently now! Today I made some low GI muesli health bars from a recipe in a Your Family magazine. Here is the recipe, I suggest you try it!!!

Makes 16 bars, prep 20 min + cooling

Ingredients:
1 cup (250ml) rolled oats
1 cup (250ml) desiccated coconut
1/2 cup (125ml) oat bran
1/2 cup (125ml) sesame seeds
1/2 cup (125ml) sunflower seeds
1 cup (250ml) raisins
125g butter
1/2 cup (125ml) honey
1/3 cup (80ml) brown sugar

Method:
1. Grease a 16cm x 28cm baking pan
2. Toast the oats, coconut, oat bran, sesame seeds ans sunflower seeds in a frying pan over a medium heat, stirring for 8 minutes or until golden, and transfer to a bowl. Allow to cool then stir in the raisins.
3. In a small saucepan combine the butter, honey and sugar over medium heat, stirring for 3 minutes or until the sugar has dissolved. Bring to the boil then reduce the heat to low. Simmer without stirring for 7 minutes or until the mixture forms a soft ball when a little is dropped into cold water. Add to the dry ingredients and mix well.
4. Spoon the mixture into the baking pan. Use a large metal spoon to press down firmly.
5. Allow to coll and then cut into bars and enjoy! These bars will keep well for up to one week in an airtight container.
I just tasted the finished product now, they are great!!!!! The only thing is, you have to wait until they are completely cool to cut them, the waiting is agony!!! I hope you enjoy them!
